Fatboy Slim- Ya Mama

Fatboy Slim also known as Norman Quentin Cook is a English DJ/Musician/Record Mixer who grew up in Surrey, London and started to DJ when he moved to Brighton and started to study a degree, he has won ten MTV video music awards and two Brit awards.

The music video focuses on a tape of the song, which makes all the listeners lose control of their arms and legs and dance uncontrollably. the music video itself was produced by Traktor who have also worked with other artists such as Basement Jaxx, the prodigy, Madonna and Flaming Lips. There are cuts between shots that exaggerate the videos narrative. the music video itself is a narrative based video that tells a story.

The music video starts off with a mid shot of an old television set playing tom and Jerry, which is a cartoon that was made for children that expresses violent behaviour between a cat and a mouse. this strangely relates to the music video as well because characters are given a childish representation, tom and Jerry is a slapstick comedy that is fast paced and matches the fast paced music in it. Then after this a parcel gets delivered to the house that the 'Ya mama' CD is in, this builds the narrative story. it then switches to a long shot of a poor area, and a shack house. This represents the characters as lower class and poor, the music video itself was filmed on Carriacou one of the less wealthier Grenadine islands. the next shot is a bearded man playing the tape through his headphones and losing control of his body as the fast music starts playing, his actions display his care free personality. The next shot of the video is a mid-upper body shot of a very happy, cheap dressed looking man giving a parcel, his happy facial expression foreshadows the later events of the video. It then cuts to a mid shot displaying a back of a mans jacket that has the peace sign on, this could represent his personality as being a very laid back man. it then switches to a sign that reads 'push the tempo' this is the main lyric repeated in the song and it looks like they are trying to sell the tape to other people so they can also dance uncontrollably. The next shot is POV camera angle where the main characters friends are leaving him. the next shot is an upper body shot of a character who is a prisoner looking att an officer going insane, the prisoner looks helpless. the next shot is a cowboy looking character looking very confused, his clothing makes him seem poor and careless.
